WATER POLO
Water Polo has a proud presence at Auckland Grammar School and continues to provide students with the opportunity to compete at a high level while developing discipline, resilience, and teamwork.
The Auckland Grammar Water Polo programme caters for both Junior and Senior players and is structured to provide a clear progression pathway from development level through to Premier competition. The programme emphasises preparation, accountability, and pride in representing the School.
In the above video, 2026 Headmaster's Heritage Committee member and fellow team-mate Elliot Cooper sits down with Water Polo Captain Rupert Glaetzer to discuss his goals for the season, how he balances the demands of training and competition alongside his academic studies and Senior Prefect responsibilities, and why leading by example is so important in inspiring younger students.
Rupert also reflects on where his water polo journey began – at the saltwater pools of the Parnell Baths. To now have a purpose-built aquatic centre on campus, where the team can train, host home games and continue traditional fixtures, is something he describes as incredibly special.
