Year 3 & 4

Year 3 & 4 netball is a modified, fast, and fun game designed to maximize participation by focusing on basic skills in a 5-a-side format on two-thirds of a court. Players rotate positions to ensure everyone develops skills across the court in games of four 8-minute quarters with short breaks.

The Junior Convenor selects the teams and prioritizes fair team balance over trialling, and an emphasis on fun rather than competitive results.

Year 5 & 6

Year 5 and 6 teams are allocated by the Junior Convenor as they are not trailled at this age. The 6 v 6 game is fast and provides players with lots of touches on the ball to enhance skill development and enjoyment. With only three positions on court it means the game is less complicated for children and easier for coaches to ensure that the players learn the skills relevant to all positions and provide equal opportunities.

Year 7 & 8

Players have developed a considerable understanding of the game and are now playing 7 v 7. The emphasis is on converting fundamental movement and basic Netball skills to foundation Netball skills. Performance, challenge and playing are key motives for this age group. Ensuring positional rotation and playing at least half a game will give each player the opportunity to participate and develop.

All players who register will be put into a team after trials.
