Former All Black Captain Andy Leslie (1974-1976) has the rare distinction of captaining the side in every test in which he played and 33 of the 34 games for the national side. An inspirational and diplomatic number eight Andy is still heavily involved with Wellington Rugby and is a prominent businessman in the capital city. A life member and former president of the Wellington Rugby Football Union, former president and life member of the Centurions Rugby Club, and former president of the NZRU.
In 2001, Leslie was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Andy has been an officer of the NZ Rugby Foundation since 2002 and was part of the First XV since its inception in 1986. His tenure as president started on March 29 2017, when he took over the mantle from his former team-mate Tane Norton.
