The Warkworth Bowls Club started in 1923. At that time, the land was used as a horse paddock for the local blacksmith/farrier, Alex Warin. He operated out of the building now occupied by the Plunket rooms. In 1923 he gifted the land for the club to be established.
It was initially known as the Warkworth Bowling and Croquet Club. 22 Ladies joined the Croquet Club.

the lifetime of him and his wife, but could be freeholded for the sum of £400. Mr. Warin died in 1939, but freehold title was not
