PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT CONTRACT

As a Club we strive to provide opportunities to continually develop and improve knowledge for players, coaches and umpires. We want to assist players in the pursuit of continuous improvement of their physical, psychological and social skills. We value effort, attitude and technique. We hope to generate a lifelong enjoyment of sport and physical activity for our members. As an affiliated club to Selwyn Netball Centre we must comply with their Rules and regulations and Netball New Zealand Standards.

Broadfield Netball Club expects a high standard of behaviour at all times; in line with the Netball  NZ Code of conduct and Ethics; (see over) by player, team officials and spectators, both on and off the court (including online via email and/or social media).

We ask in return that you will uphold the clubs core values of Respect, Responsibility and a Caring Attitude. We expect that you adopt an attitude of fair play and good sportsmanship. Remembering that above all, sport is for enjoyment. Broadfield Netball club takes a serious view of incidents involving inappropriate behaviour.

Complaints-if you have an issue to do with Court Conduct –on or off- Please discuss with your Coach, Captain or member other Club committee as soon after the event as possible. (see also Selwyn Regulations for their Complaints Procedure)


For these reasons we respectfully request that you read sign this player/club contract in agreement.

  • I will  be respectful and use fair play during practice and when I am playing a competition game of netball
  • My behaviour will reflect our clubs rules and expectations when I am representing Broadfield Netball Club. I respect that I am part of a team and that I will always be considerate and respectful towards my team mates, coach and manager.
  • I will not make negative comments about my coach, team, the club or Selwyn Netball Centre on any social media forum.
  • I respect that the umpire’s decision is final, I shall not question any umpiring calls; this is the job of your Captain.
  • I will care for my uniform and equipment that belongs to the club including returning uniform, trophies in good order and when requested.
  • I will pay my subs promptly when requested.
  • I agree to do my upmost to be committed to attending trainings and be punctual to training and games
  • I acknowledge that the club is run by volunteers who do their best to enhance my experience of the game of Netball.


Failure to comply with any of the conditions above will impose a 3 strike penalty

  • Strike one:  Sidelined at practice
  • Strike two:  Sidelined for at least half a game
  • Strike three:  Report made to President and Committee, for Disciplinary action.

By registering for Broadfield Netball Club, you have agreed to abide by the above player's code of conduct contract and to conform to the constitution of the club.

​​​​​​​NNZ Players Code of Conduct & Ethics

• Play equally hard for yourself and your team. Your team’s performance will benefit, so will you.

• Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another player.

• Control your temper, any verbal abuse or deliberate contact. Abusive behaviour is unacceptable.

• Play according to the rules of netball and the principles of fair play.

• Never argue with an umpire. If you are concerned, talk to your coach or captain.

• Be a good sport, cheer all good play from both your team and the opposition.

• Appreciate and co-operate with your coach, teammates and officials. There would be no game without them.

• Take responsibility for your performance on and off the court.


Parents / Spectators Code of Conduct
As a parent / guardian & spectator of netball or netball related activities held by or under the auspices of NNZ, a Zone or a Netball Centre, you are encouraged to meet the following requirements in regard to your conduct during any such activity or event.

1. Support the removal of verbal or physical abuse from the game.

2. If you disagree with an official, raise the issue via the appropriate channels rather than question the official's judgement & honesty in public.

3. Teach players that effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.

4. If players are interested, encourage & support them to play. Avoid forcing players to play if they are reluctant.

5. Players learn by taking risks & making mistakes, encourage & support this.

6. Remember that players are involved in netball for their enjoyment - not yours.

7. Recognize & value the value & importance of coaches & other volunteers who give their time & resources to provide netball - they deserve your support.

8. Applaud good play by players on both teams.

9. Encourage players to play to the rules of the game & respect umpires' decisions.
