Canterbury MGA Spring Training and Mini Pairs Comp

Venue: Trents Vineyard

Coaching: We are excited to have some of our own experienced Open and Under 18 riders who have competed successfully both in NZ and overseas.

This clinic will be very beneficial for all ages and abilities and will help set riders and ponies up for the season. New games riders welcome.

The format will be: 

9.30am Coaching session for riders less experienced or new to games, or on green ponies. This will be a slower session.

11am Training sessions for our experienced riders getting their ponies out or continuing training. Some of our coaches will be on their ponies as well.

12.15pm Lunch 

1pm Mixed Pairs Competition - we can match you up with someone. 

2pm finish.

$25 - Ground Fee and BBQ lunch included

Entries close: Wednesday 2nd of September.

CANTERBURY MOUNTED GAMES

Welcome to Canterbury Mounted games, a branch of NZMGA. Mounted Games is a fast-paced equestrian sport usually played on ponies under 150 cm for riders of all ages. It features a series of games designed for teams, pairs, and individuals, emphasizing the athletic abilities, coordination, riding skills, and teamwork of both riders and horses. Mounted Games can be enjoyed as a friendly competition between friends or as a more serious contest at various events, with the ultimate goal for most riders being to participate in a fun and competitive atmosphere. CMGA has regular trainings and competitions, and we welcome all ages interested in having a go at this wonderful action-packed fun sport. Our aim is to provide riders access to a friendly, welcoming, and fun environment to learn or improve your games skills!​​​​​​​

FUN GAMES ON HORSEBACK

TEAMS FOR ALL AGES & STAGES!

Suitable for assisted Kids and Minis (10 and under) Under 12, 15 and 18 as well as the super quick Opens. There is also the very enjoyable Veteran (over 35) Class (parents and grandparents!) Great fun, riding with friends, learning new skills and building confidence. We hold camps, coaching sessions and competitions in Canterbury.

We are also available to come to your group/pony club to run coaching sessions.New members are welcome, and can attend regular (over summer) evening sessions and get discounted entry into competitions.

Membership is $100 per year for riding members.

We have teams that compete at HOY each year, and a regional team that travels throughout NZ competing on loan ponies. We also support members who are selected to represent New Zealand!
