Want to try out a sport that most people haven't heard of, train on the water during summer and most importantly, compete in a fun sport with your friends? Dragon Boating could be the sport for you!
Dragonboating is an all inclusive sport for all students in Years 9-13 that requires no previous experience. In 2024 we will be offering a six week programme in Term 1 and another programme in Term 4.
Paddlers sit in paired rows along the boat with their timing being controlled by the 'caller' at the front of the boat and direction being controlled by a 'sweep' at the back. Depending on regatta entered we may paddle in a 10-man or a 20-man boat.
COST
The cost for the 2024 six week season will be $60 per student.
EQUIPMENT
The boat, paddles and PFD's are provided by the Aoraki Dragonboating Association. Students will just need to wear activewear that they don't mind getting wet. T-shirt hire for regattas is included in registration cost.
TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Transport to Owles Terrace is the responsibility of the student.
