MEN’S FEDERATION LEAGUE – ROUNDS 11,12 & 14:

ALH Limited Gisborne Thistle welcomed Watson Integrity PN Marist to Childers Road. Marist went into the half time break with a narrow 1-0 lead thanks to a 37th minute strike by Sam Hickmott. Their lead was then doubled when Melvin Rumere netted in the 61st minute. Thistle pulled a goal back minutes later thanks to Jimmy Somerton. Marist then restored their two-goal cushion in the 69th minute thanks to Zak Hughes as he slotted home after a great solo run. David Ure gave the home side a glimmer of hope as he scored a very nice goal from distance in the 82nd minute however it was only to be a consolation as Marist were able to hold on and grab a valuable 3-2 win on the road. 

At Bluewater Stadium Thirsty Whale Napier City Rovers took on Bayleys Palmerston North United.  United got off to a great start and took the lead in the 22nd minute through Benjamin Mori. Just before the break it was the home side who found the net thanks to James Mack III as the sides went to the sheds all locked up at 1-1. The second half was a different story, and the home side were very clinical netting four unanswered goals through James Mack III (2), Ethan Spencer, and Liam Schofield as they secured a well deserved 5-1 win in front of their home fans.

ALH Limited Gisborne Thistle hosted Shani’s Taradale AFC. The home side got off to a flying start and with an early brace from Jimmy Somerton found themselves ahead 2-0 at the break. Somerton extended the lead when he completed his hattrick in the 52nd minute before Oska Smith netted to make it 4 in the 67th minute. Thomas Hall pulled one back for Taradale in the 74th minute however that was only to be a consolation as Gisborne held on to claim a 4-1 victory on their home turf.

WOMEN’S FEDERATION LEAGUE – ROUND 11:

Havelock North Wanderers welcomed Kitchens by Healey Palmerston North United to Guthrie Park. The visitors came out firing and took a 3-0 lead into Halftime thanks to goals from Sarah Swinbanks, Paris Liu, and Kirstie Baker. They continued that form in the second half as Liu netted twice more to complete her hattrick as well as a goal from Hannah Carey as they found themselves six goals to the good. Maddison Hughes netted for Havelock in the 79th minute to get the hosts off the mark however that was as good as it got as a late Own Goal extended United’s lead once more and the match ended in a comfortable 7-1 win to the visiting side.

Eastern League 1 

Gisborne Thistle Youth took on Coates Associates Wainui Demons this weekend. Wainui coming out on top with a 4:2 win.  In one of the two local derby’s it was Thistle Vintage the win 5:2. Neil Hansen and Charlie Harvey both scoring braces for the side and as well as a goa from Stefan Faber.  1st Class Decorators Wainui Salty Dogs had the challenge of playing club mates Sunshine Brewing Wainui Sharks in the other derby this weekend. Sharks took the win 9:1. 

Eastern League 2 

Tumu Thistle won 2:1 against QRS Wairoa Athletic. Goal scorers unknown.  HSOB Sports Club won 5:0 up against Heavy Equipment Gisborne United 3rds. Goal scorers unknown. Tatapouri Bohemians won 4:0 Neighbourhood Pizzeria Wainui Sandbar. Goal Scorers unknown. Heavy Equipment Gisborne United 2nd's took on Smash Palace Shockers. Score Unknown. Gizzy Bobcat Services Thistle took on Ngatapa Brandt Silkies. Score Unknown. 

Womens Eastern League 

Gisborne Laundry Service Wainui Riverina took on Bohemians Ladies this weekend. Wainui won 7:2. Goal Scorers unknown. GGHS 1st XI  took on Campion 1st XI Girls. Score unknown.
