Kia ora koutou katoa!
It’s that time of year again, as we wrap up another season and look ahead to the 2026/27 season, which kicks off on 1 October 2026. Registration is now open, please do register here for the new season!
It’s been another busy year for Hawaikinui Tuarua, with many of you making the most of every opportunity to get out on the water. Somehow, the season seems to have flown by!
As always, the season started with a rush into the Sprint season and preparations for Nationals. It was fantastic to see such a wide range of generations represented, from our youngest paddler at just 6 years old, through to our most experienced paddler at 77. That spread of ages is something pretty special and is a great reflection of what our club is all about.
We then paddled into winter, which slowed things down a little with some pretty wild weather. That didn’t stop some of you from getting out there, including those who took on their first race in the Hoe Tonga Paddler Series.
We also had our women's M75 Manawaroa team proudly representing us on the waters of Singapore at the World Sprint Championships — an awesome achievement and something the whole club could get behind and celebrate.
As we head into the 2026/27 season, we’re looking forward to building on what we’ve achieved and continuing to grow the club, get more people out on the water, and support our paddlers across all ages and levels of experience.
A big part of this will be guided by the feedback you provided through our club survey. From your responses, three key areas were identified that we’d like to focus on throughout the coming season.
You can find the survey summary here, along with some of the ideas and feedback provided, which will help shape where we head in 2026/27. As a starting point, we've created a Club Kete page, which provides an introduction to Waka Ama and a place where we can continue to build and expand information for our members as we move forward. check it out!
And lastly!!! Ngā mihi nui to everyone who has contributed to the club over the past season — whether you’ve been paddling, coaching, helping with repairs, organising events, supporting from the shore, or simply turning up and being part of the whānau. It all makes a difference.
Here’s to another great season ahead!
