The 2026 College Sport Wellington Secondary Schools Squash Championships were held on 17 June at the Fraser Park Sports Centre, bringing together students from across the region for a day of high-quality competition.

With matches played in a fast-paced format of best-of-five games to 11 points, players competed across both championship and rookie divisions, showcasing the growing depth of squash talent in Wellington schools.

In the senior championship grades, Alisa Zhang (Onslow College) claimed the Girls Senior title with a composed and consistent performance throughout the day.   In the Boys Senior division, Eamon Gannon (Wellington College) continued his outstanding run of form, adding another regional title to an already impressive resume, which includes national representation and being named the 2025 College Sport Wellington Squash Player of the Year.

The rookie divisions once again proved a valuable pathway for emerging players. Keira Puha (Wainuiomata High School) impressed to take out the Girls Rookie title, while Rakaipo Tapiata (Te Kura Ngā Mokopuna) secured the Boys Rookie championship, highlighting the strength of developing athletes entering the sport.

The event reflects the continued commitment to providing quality competitive opportunities for secondary school students.  Participation from a wide range of schools reinforces squash’s growing presence within the CSW calendar, with both experienced and first-time players contributing to a strong tournament environment.

College Sport Wellington acknowledges the support of Hutt City Squash Club, Fraser Park Sports Centre and school staff who enabled the championships to run smoothly.

With strong performances across all grades and a healthy mix of established and emerging players, the championships provided an excellent platform as athletes now look ahead to further regional and national opportunities later in the season.
