Counties Baseball Club​​​ Inc - Our Story

Counties Baseball Club was established in 2014. It was literally formed as at team of ex-baseball/softball players that entered a team in Auckland Baseball’s Social Division. We quickly realized this group of players could easily compete in a more competitive grade in Auckland.

In 2015 we entered pretty much the same group of guys into the Premier Grade and finished respectfully 3rd. By 2016, this same team went on to win the Premier Men’s National Championship.

This success and “word of mouth” that baseball exists in Counties has helped us increase playing numbers.  We now support age grade teams in U11, U13, U16, U19 and continue our Premier Men’s team.

Grass roots is the biggest focus for us as a club and we are always striving to find ways to help our tamariki get up, get out and get active.

In 2020 we partnered with CLM and Sport NZ to launch a school programme in Counties for children from 5-13 years old.  Baseball5 is a fun, action-packed game that promotes inclusion, teamwork and improved skills that can help with many sports.  

We are also very passionate about creating future pathways for older kids that may be talented and determined to study abroad at University or similar. We’ve had great success sending players overseas to play baseball while furthering their education.  This is great for our community as many of our youth don’t get these sort of opportunities.
