VACANCY | Community Cricket Ambassador / Yeah! Girls Activator


Cricket Wellington is seeking passionate and energetic individuals for the positions of COMMUNITY CRICKET AMBASSADOR and YEAH! GIRLS ACTIVATOR to join our community team on casual contracts for the 2020-21 summer of cricket. These exciting opportunities will support Cricket Wellington and New Zealand Cricket's strategic plans to get more people playing and loving cricket. 

 

Community Cricket Ambassadors: 

If you are passionate about sport, are enthusiastic and enjoy working with tamariki to inspire and advocate for physical activity then we want you! There is an expectation for ambassadors to deliver sessions that are fun, fast paced, and inclusive for all participants. The Community Cricket Ambassador role is varied, meaning no day is ever the same. Ambassadors must have experience working with youth and adults in a coaching environment, and experience in engaging people in active recreation and physical activity – this does not need to be cricket specific!

Yeah! Girls Activators:

Yeah! Girls is back for the 2021-21 season. Yeah! Girls is a social and fun cricket product for girls aged 10-17. Yeah! Girls Activators are a high energy, engaging champions of sport and physical activity for young women. Activators are responsible for delivering fun, social, and active sessions both in-schools and on local sports fields. Activators must have exceptional communication skills, be innovative, and responsive to change.  Activators must have confidence in working with people of all ages, culture and abilities and be experienced in engaging people in physical activity, though not necessarily cricket. In fact – we welcome your diverse sporting skills and experience!

These roles are casual positions for the 2020-21 season (August 2020 - March 2021). Successful applicants will be police vetted and provided with full training. Current driver’s license and/or reliable transport will be required for either role.

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

To apply for this position, you must be an energetic and passionate individual that wants to lead and learn.

  • Demonstrated leadership and high level communication skills with proven ability to build effective cooperative working relationships internally and with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven experience working with children and young people
  • Sporting background (not necessarily cricket)
  • Relationship management experience
  • Ability to sell and motivate
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation including but not limited to: the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Vulnerable Children’s Act, the Privacy Act
