The standard of rugby and competitiveness over all grades in the 2017 ensures that 2018 will be another outstanding year. The news that Hawkins have been confirmed as the Metropolitan sponsor is outstanding and we thank them for their continued support. They have been a well engaged and supportive sponsor and their Club Ambassador programme has worked very well.
With feedback from our member clubs, the committee has moved to make some changes to the open grade
competitions. Colts will now be a single grade and open to clubs putting in more than one team. Final entry numbers will determine whether this grade will move to sections.
The Metro Committee will also work to get draws in Premier and Premier Reserve, more closely aligned than has been the case in recent seasons. Where we can’t match these grades, we will endeavour to match with Colts.
In the 2020 season we will have full home and away matching in our two top grades with no limit to the number of clubs who can enter teams into Premiers, on the condition that they also have a Premier Reserve team.
All the best for the 2018 season and I look forward to catching up on the sideline. The members of this committee are always happy to hear from you and assist where we can. See the Club Liaison list for you point of contact.
