Junior Graduation Programme

The purpose of this program is three-fold:

  • To prepare students for the rigors of NCEA
  • To reward students for hard work in the Junior School
  • To identify those students who might need support

Students will be tracked throughout the year. Each assessment they attempt is allocated points based on the student’s level of achievement. The number of points accumulated at the end of the year will determine whether the Graduation Certificate is awarded at ‘Excellence’, ‘Merit’, or ‘Achieved’ level.

Students who fall short of the minimum requirements will be identified and parents/caregivers will be consulted on the next steps. The points will be scrutinized by a committee and finalized before the allocation of Graduation Certificates. A half-year check will be done to determine students’ progress towards achieving their Graduation Certificate.

The Junior Graduation program recognizes that academic progress is driven by regular attendance and behavior that is conducive to learning.

Calculating Junior Graduation and Curriculum level reporting. Each assessment will be graded against curriculum level criteria. At each curriculum level students may be graded ‘beginning’, proficient’ or ‘advanced’. At each year level a grade of ‘before’ will also be available. The 10 levels in each year group will be given a point value from 1-10 with U3 and U4 being 1 and 5A and 6A being 10.
