DANNEVIRKE NETBALL CENTRE GUIDELINES FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON 2026:

Starting Dates

• Junior netball for A and B Grade players (that is Year 5-8 players) will start on

Saturday 2nd May. A draw will be published on our Facebook page and sent to all

schools.

• Junior netball for 4 v 4 and 5 v 5 players (that is Year 1-4 players) will start on

Saturday 2nd May.

• Senior netball (Year 9 players through to adults) will start on Tuesday 5th May. A

draw will be published on our Facebook page and be sent to all clubs.

Registrations

Registrations for players, coaches, managers and umpires should have already been

done via the DNC Sporty website. Club/School organisers should have placed your

players into correct teams by using ‘Team Builder’ on your sporty page.

Fees

• Junior fees are set at $35 per player; 2 players in the same family $50; 3 or more

players in the same family $60. These are to be paid online to DNC BEFORE games

commence on the 2nd May.

• Senior fees have been set at $550 per team. Team fees must be received BEFORE 30th June 2025. Cost of any late registrations is $10 per player and must be paid

BEFORE that player takes the court. A maximum of 12 players per team can be

registered.

Uniform

All players taking the court should be wearing the approved netball uniform for your club/school.  NO long pants/tights are to be worn under skirts/dresses.  A long sleeve BLACK thermal may be worn under tops if players wish.  Absolutely NO JEWELLERY is allowed.  This also means that jewellery (such as earrings) cannot be taped over.  All jewellery must be completely removed, or players may be asked to leave the court, or forbidden from taking the court.  There are TWO exceptions to that rule - a wedding ring or medic alert bracelet may be taped.  Shoes MUST be worn by all players taking the court.  A further requirement is that all players have short fingernails so please ensure players are aware of this and are not running around looking for nail clippers after umpires have done their check!

Umpires

Respect ALL umpires.  Remember umpires are all of different abilities and their experience will be varied.  Everyone must start somewhere, and we are always struggling to find people to put themselves forward as umpires.  Please refrain from ‘sideline’ or ‘on-court’ umpiring - if you are so keen to umpire, then please go through the correct channels and become an official one.  DNC have qualified umpire coaches who are more than willing to help answer any queries, and to help develop our umpires.  Abuse of any umpires WILL NOT BE TOLERATED BY THE COMMITTEE. THIS COULD RESULT IN YOU BEEN REMOVED FROM THE COURTS.

Scoring

The scorecard is the official record of any game.  If there is any debate over the score, the result will be determined by the score card.  Teams should be asked to score half of the game each when there is no official scorer provided.  A person from each team should be standing together at half way for the entirety of the game.  Umpires will check the scorecard at each break and record the score at that point of the game.  ALL players, including reserves must be written on the back of the scorecard.  This also includes any player that may be filling in for the game.  This needs to be first initial AND SURNAME.  If cards are filled out incorrectly, teams could lose their points so please ensure coaches/managers are aware of the full names of all of their players.

Playing for another team

  • Players cannot take the court for any club/school other than that for which they have registered.  If this happens, the offending team will automatically default the game and lose their points.  The only exception is with the primary A Grade.  These teams can use a B Grade player from any school to help out as they do not have any other teams to borrow from.
  • Players can however, play in a different team for their registered club/school so long as that team is in the SAME or a HIGHER grade than the team they are registered for.  Any player can only play TWO games for another team though.  If a third occasion occurs, that player will then be deemed as registered for that team and cannot play for their original team any further.
  • Players from another team CANNOT take the court ahead of players who were in the initial registration ie you cannot have a fill in player on the court and an original team member sitting on the bench if they are fit and well.

Volunteers

Like always, we are once again on the look-out for volunteers to help ensure the season

runs smoothly. We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the following:

• Someone who could over-see and coordinate our Future Ferns (4 v 4) and (5 v 5) on a

Saturday morning.

• Coaches for our Year 7/8 combined teams that play on Saturday mornings.

• People to umpire games - both senior and junior levels.

• People to be game scorers on the sideline (the Sporty App online scoring if applicable).

TRAINING WILL BE ON OFFER TO ALL OF THESE VOLUNTEERS.

THE REALITY IS, WITHOUT THEM, WE CANNOT RUN OUR SEASON.
