Dunedin K-Pop Crew

Nau mai haere mai!!

Welcome everyone to the Dunedin K-Pop Crew (DKC) club website!

About the Club:

In late 2023, the founding members realized that very few spaces existed for K-Pop fans to meet and dance together in Dunedin. As a result, DKC was founded to foster dance, cultural exchange, and community around K-Pop. The tikanga (culture) of the club is to be welcoming, inclusive, supportive, diverse, respectful, and cooperative so that we can have a safe space for everyone to dance, regardless of skill or ability. 2024 marked our first year of operating as an OUSA-affiliated club, and we are excited to continue to grow and become a self-sufficient and stable club that will continue for 2025 and the years to come.

Classes and Events:

The core activity of DKC is a weekly class in which select members volunteer to teach the chorus of a K-Pop song. We schedule all the classes for the semester ahead of time, and the songs taught are announced no later than a week prior. We will hold TWO classes per week. All members will be notified of upcoming social and performance events via email, instagram, and facebook.

Class Schedule:

Tuesday 7pm - 9pm

Sunday 5pm - 7pm

All classes will be in the Dance Studio in the OUSA clubs and societies building  (Except during holidays and exam periods)

Events held by DKC will include:

  • watch parties (watching K-Pop MV releases, live performances, group content, and even K-Dramas),
  • crafts nights (making dance outfits and looks, creating banners, posters, and stickers for the club and subunits, etc.),
  • cultural get-togethers (making Korean food and snacks, learning Korean, etc.)
  • dance performances (performing at events, shooting videos for our social media, etc.)

Rules and Conditions:

To participate in any club activities you must first become a member by signing up through OUSA/SPORTY by clicking on the signup button on this page. Our Registration form is in our Linktree.  Once signed up, we ask that you read the Club Consitution and Code of Conduct to know what members are entitled to, and what responsibilities you have. A membership fee will be charged of $5 for one(1) semester or $8 for a full year membership.

Registration WILL NOT be complete until payment has been received. Please follow instructions given in the confirmation email upon sign-up. We will manually process payments given and approve registration. If no payment is given within a week registration will be terminated. Please re-signup if the week limit has been reached.

It is important to ALWAYS be supportive of other members, and not be rude, mean, or condescending towards any other member of the club. Remember that we all have different backgrounds, and we dance for fun and community over all else! Competitive dancing and performances will be possible for members who want to push themselves beyond "just having fun", but these groups will also be expected to be welcoming and supportive.
