Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club has a dedicated crew involved in steering the Club into the future.
Meet them below to find why they are involved and what they do around the Club.
Commodore
Davin is a keen sailor and Yachting NZ qualified Coach. He can often be found at Evans Bay on a windsurfer, in various dinghies, or his Trailer Yacht Liquid Asset.
As Commodore, Davin is ultimately the skipper and is responsible for the overall organisation and management.
You can contact Davin via commodore@ebymbc.org.nz
Vice Commodore
Bill first got involved with EBYMBC more than 20 years ago and has sailed everything from dinghies, through Trailer Yachts, and now owns a Lotus 9.5 Keelboat named Tamerlane. You will see her and Bill out there at any opportunity, whether there is club sailing scheduled or not!
As Vice Commodore, Bill is in charge of the Club's sailing activities.
You can contact Bill via vicecommodore@ebymbc.org.nz
Rear Commodore
Katie was introduced to sailing in 2007 by her brother, who owned a boatyard in Wellington, and decided it was about time she stopped referring to a boat's sides as left and right.
Since then, sailing has become a long-standing passion, with most of her experience gained on keelboats. A transition to Trailer Yachts opened up a whole new side of the sport and connected her more closely with EBYMBC. What keeps her involved is the camaraderie, continuous learning, and the opportunity to contribute to a community that has given her so much enjoyment over the years.
As Rear Commodore, Katie is responsible for the operation of the Clubhouse and land-based social events, including the bar.
You can contact Katie via
Club Captain
After coming through the learn to sail programme at Evan's Bay, Sheryl caught the sailing bug! She can now often be found hanging off the side of her 420 Erratic.
As Club Captain, Sheryl is responsible for the facilities maintenance and storage here at EBYMBC.
You can contact Sheryl via
Sailing Academy Officer
When Ashley isn't working on Learn to Sail programmes, he can be found out on the Bay in his 420 Valkyrie.
As Sailing Academy Officer, Ashley is responsible for the Evans Bay Learn to Sail Programme, including the coaches and the Academy sailing fleet.
You can contact Ash via
Slipway Manager
As Slipway Manager, Sven is responsible for the management and operation of the Club's slipway and hardstand area.
You can contact Sven via slipway@ebymbc.org.nz
General Manager
Ryan, or "Rowdy" as he is known to everyone around here, has spent his life in yacht clubs. A qualified Chartered Accountant, he decided the corporate life wasn't for him and started down the coaching path before moving into yachting administration.
As General Manager, Rowdy is responsible for the overall operation and financial sustainability of the Club.
You can contact Rowdy via gm@ebymbc.org.nz
Bar Manager
Jackie doesn't like boats or going on the water. This is a great thing for EBYMBC, as she is our Bar Manager and looks after everyone on shore once they have had their fun in the sun (and on the water).
As Bar Manager, Jackie is responsible for the bar operation and keeping the smiles on everyones face when they are relaxing and reliving a great day.
You can contact Jackie via bar@ebymbc.org.nz
