1st  February 2021

Dear Netballers/Parents/Guardians

Welcome to Elim Netball Club 2021!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely holiday and a well-deserved rest.

I’m really excited about this year’s netball season. We’ve got 3 weeks until trials! So here are some important details for the season ahead.

If you are new to Elim Netball Club, then a big welcome to you. This is my third year as club manager and I’m really looking forward to the start of the season. After the 2020 season, which was shortened due to Covid, we are really praying for more netball games this year. Our desire is to see the players improve their skills and to take pride in their achievements throughout the season. I want Elim netball players to be known for their Christian character on and off the court, as well as playing a high standard of netball. So, this letter is to welcome you and let you know of the following information:

Firstly, a reminder to all our Elim Netball Club families that we are independent to Elim Christian College. This means that whilst we are fortunate to use the school’s facilities for training and although the majority of our players attend Elim, we however run our own club. This allows us the opportunity to include players who do not attend Elim Christian College, which is fantastic. If you know of girls who would like to join our club, please invite them to come to trials. Also, if you have any queries then please come directly to the netball committee (see names and roles below) and NOT to any school staff or the school office as they won’t be able to help you.

Here is the link from our database to re–register online for the season:

For those of you who are new to the club, registration links can be found on our website www.sporty.co.nz/elimnetball. This is also where all information throughout the netball season will be posted and includes a link to our Facebook and Instagram pages.  Our FB and IG pages will be updated regularly, so please follow us there.  If you are aware of anyone who is keen to play for our club and does not receive our emails, please feel free to forward this letter on to them. If your daughter has decided not to play netball for our club this season, could you please let us know by return email.

Registrations close on Wednesday 17th of February.  Invoices will be sent out after this date and will need to be paid by Wednesday 24th February.

Netball fees for 2021 season will be the same as the last 2 years, as listed below:

Junior players $160

College players $175

Senior players $195

Please note that netball registration fees are in most cases non-refundable and have to be paid to confirm your daughters place on a team. Disappointment in team allocation is not a valid case for a refund.

For 2021 we are excited to provide netball teams for Year 6 junior players up to our senior players. The Year 6 girls will play 6 aside netball on a Saturday morning at HPNC.  The training for these girls will be on Tuesdays at Golflands Campus at 3.30-4.30pm. The first training will be Tuesday 16th March.

Our Years 7 and 8 Junior players will play 7 aside netball on a Saturday morning at HPNC. These teams will train at Botany Campus gym on Tuesdays at 3.30-4.30pm.

College players will be placed into teams according to their performance at trials. Trials will be held on Tuesday 23rd of February from 5:30-8pm and Tuesday 2nd March from 5.30-8pm in the Gym at Elim Botany Campus.  We will have selectors from both inside and outside the club watching the girls play. We do recommend that the girls do some fitness work in the weeks leading up to trials to make sure we can see their full potential.  We hope to have a senior team again this year.

Our Club Night will be held on Tuesday 9th March at 6:30pm at the Botany Campus Gym. There we will introduce the club committee members and the teams will meet their coaches. This is the night where uniforms for junior players will be issued – a $30.00 cash bond needs to be paid on the night to receive your junior uniform. There will also be an opportunity to purchase/on-sell second-hand college uniforms or order new ones. This is an important evening not to be missed.  We need everyone in the club to be present as we kick off the 2021 netball season.  More news on the Club Night will be sent out closer to the date, as well as advertised on the Facebook page.

Howick Pakuranga Netball Centre, where our Netball Club plays at, is continuing with the weekend grading this year. All our Junior teams will have three or four grading games over the weekend of the 10 & 11 April, and our college/senior team will have grading on 17 & 18 April. Please make a note in your calendar and keep these dates free, it’s really important for all players to be there for both days.

The normal Saturday games will commence on the 8th of May for all players.

Our committee members are: Rita Allerby (Club Manager), Anne Edwards (Treasurer), Bronwyn Neumann (Secretary, junior uniforms), Hanneke Aish (Equipment, gear bags), Julie Mundey (Managers, college uniforms), Kerry Finlay (Social Media), Anna Christiansen (Umpire delegate), Nicky Browne (financial support) , Raewyn Christiansen (umpire support and merchandise).

I know that this is a lot of information to take in but please mark these dates in your diaries as they are all important for the season ahead. If you have any questions, please contact me and I will be happy to elaborate.

Looking forward to a great season ahead!
