Fencing is an ancient art and also a modern Olympic sport.

Here at ‘Fencing in Nelson/Tasman’, we focus on introducing the sport as an inclusive activity where
everyone can have a go, challenge themselves physically and mentally and have fun alongside others.

END OF YEAR TOURNAMENT 7-8TH DECEMBER 2024

This year, we're doing things differently.  We've got three coaches coming up from Christchurch to do some coaching on the Saturday, followed by competition on Sunday. 

This is an event that is focused on enjoying fencing, getting to meet some new fencers and having fun.  The whole event will be held at Nelson College for Girls Old Gym.  The entrance is on Rutherford Street next to the swimming pool.

The programme is as follows

Saturday 7th December    Epee coaching with Martin Brill 9-11:30am

                                                   Foil coaching with Kate Brill noon-2:30pm

                                                   Sabre coaching with Stephen L Clarke 3-5:30pm

Each coaching session is $25 per fencer.

Sunday 8th December   Men's and Women's Open Epee, Veteran Women's Epee registration at 8am planning to start poules at 8:30am

                                               Open Sabre and U13 (age as at 01/01/2024) Mixed Foil registration at 9am planning to start poules at 9:30am

                                               Men's and Women's Open Foil, Veteran Women's Foil registration at noon planning to start poules at 12:30pm.

After poules, there will be a break for fencers followed by direct elimination bouts.  This is a bigger event than we have run before so while we appreciate fencers registering promptly, start times for bouts are approximate.  We will do our best to get through the competition promptly to allow travellers to get home.

During Sunday's events, we will be running a complimentary sausage sizzle for participants and supporters.

To compete in one weapon is $25, two weapons, $35 and 3 weapons is $45.
