September provided Spring weather on our Opening Day (Sept 13)
and there was an enthusiasc turn out from current members along
with a group taking advantage of our “open to all” posngs to try
their hand at bowls. We welcome new members : Steve Benton,
Margaret Black, David Compton, Kay Gilray, Graeme Glackin, Jane &
William Hunter, Jenny Kennedy, Kate Kennedy-Newton, Barry
Maister, Tom Maling, Adrienne & Ian McGuinniety, Michael Smail,
Mike Strange, Val Treacy and Simon Unger.
We look forward to a happy Summer of Bowls.
Friday Fish’n Chip Nights
We are reintroducing the Friday 6sh’ n chip nights again this season.
On the 6rst Friday of each month we have an informal 2 hour social
gathering in the upstairs lounge. For those who wish, we order 6sh n
chips and bring them back to the club. We try to get a guest speaker
for these nights.
As we have just got underway this season, we will have one this
Friday, 10 October commencing at 5pm. See you there!
Interclub Competitions
We have entered a 2x4 any combinaon team and 2 x Under 5 triples
teams in Saturday interclub compeons as well as 5 x Under 5 Pairs
teams in Thursday night compeons.
Roll-ups
We have had very good a@endances at Monday, Thursday and
Saturday roll-ups so far this season.
With fewer members involved in Saturday interclub matches we
expect be@er turnouts on Saturday aAernoons than in the past. Once
we get se@led in we can introduce some diBerent formats and
prizes.
Note all roll-ups are from 1.30pm - 3.30pm with aAernoon tea
and/or bar open at completion.
Club Booklets
The new season’s booklets are available at the Club for members’
collection.
Elmwood Duster
Inclement weather saw the Elmwood Duster postponed from
October 4 and it is likely to be played at Elmwood on Saturday
February 21
– adjust your programme to ensure your availability.
Open Tournaments
Fendalton’s sponsored Open Tournaments commence with Pairs on
Thursday October 9 followed by Triples on October 23
