Held on the 6th February each year this is a chance for all riders in the Area to come together for a day of fun and friendship.

Branches send teams made up of Junior/Intermediate and Senior riders and compete in a range of games and jumping. Just so noone is left out there is a special section for riders who are still in a lead rein.

Ballyndene is a fun teams event which incorporates cross country, show jumping and novelty games. Teams consist of 6 members, 2 junior(12 yrs and under), 2 intermediate(13-15 yrs) and 2 senior (16-25 yrs). Branches from within the FTV Area can which includes all those branches within FDPC can enter a team or more than one teams if they have enough interested members. The event is held annually on Waitangi Day at different locations through out the FTV Area. The winning team received the Ballendyne Cup.

The Ballendyne Cup was presented by the Fountain family in memory of a truely amazing 15.3h gelding called Ballendyne which in one year took his rider Jacqui Fountain to first place in DC class at Pony Club Champs in 1981. In 1982 Ballyndene won the Telebrae Stakes at the Easter Show a top C grade show jumping competition. In 1983 Jacqui and Ballyndene were part of the FTV Team that won Pony Club Champs in New Pymouth, with Jacqui captaining the team. In 1984 Ballyndene and Jacqui were selected for the Los Angeles Olympic squad.


Clubs take turns hosting the day.  The hosts for 2017 will be advised shortly.
