After being the NZRU constitutionally appointed trustee for two years Gerard Van Tilborg was elected on to the board full time in 2014, and voted in as chairman in June 2015.

Gerard brings a wealth of experience with over 25 years CEO and governance experience across multiple sectors including engineering, construction, quarrying, finance, manufacturing and sport.

 Previously, Gerard has been chairman of the North Harbour union and a Blues director (2005-2008), NZRU Director (08-14), is a former treasurer and chairman of the Northcote Birkenhead rugby club and has a background in banking and business management.

Currently he is a director and Chairman of Construction Specialties NZ Limited, David Bateman Ltd,  Skinshield Products Ltd and MD of Origin Quarries Limited.
