Recent History
In more recent times, the club established its present home at Sunnyvale, moving from Miller Park which had been the home ground for Green Island since the mid 1960s.
Since the early 1970s Sunnyvale has been synonymous with Green Island cricket, with club members playing a central role in the development of the complex and ground.
In 1974, a Green Island Cricket XI was finally accepted into the Senior competition for the first time.
The side was captained during this time by Glenn Turner, who played an influential role in establishing the club as a competitive force in Dunedin club cricket. The side took 10 years to achieve its maiden Senior Banner..
Since 1974 our Swamprats have won 15 Dunedin Club Banners, 5 New Zealand National Club Championship banners and have been the Otago Sports Team of the year once.
We have produced 26 Otago Representatives and 7 New Zealand Representatives
