The Wellington Phoenix Pre-Academy Greytown Centre runs during school terms on Mondays.

The Pre-Academy Centres (PAC) is a stepping stone into the Wellington Phoenix Academy programme. The PAC targets players in the Skill Acquisition Phase (9-12) and looks to build on their key skills and confidence in the players' ability to take the next step in their football journey. These sessions are intended to compliment a players community football development.

These sessions will be in addition to your child's team training and are open to all players throughout the Wairarapa.

BACKGROUND:

The Greytown Junior Football Club (GJFC) has partnered with the Wellington Phoenix Academy  bring their Pre-Academy Centre to the Wairarapa. Our Centre represents a fantastic opportunity to grow the community game, whilst offering a genuine pathway into the Wellington Phoenix Academy and possibly professional football.

The Pre-Academy Centre has grown from the Greytown Football Skills Centre that established in 2018, to provide an aligned, co-ordinated approach to junior footballers, aged 9-12 years, wishing to access additional training. Its main aim was to provide a structured programme for players, in an enjoyable environment that maximises player development. After a successful trial, GJFC established the Skills Centre on a permanent basis. Through a planned, consistent approach to training, based around principles of Long Term Player Development, it is hoped the PAC Greytown will provide a perfect start for players wishing to improve their football ability.

Players taking part in the Centre will follow a Wellington Phoenix Academy Centre curriculum, focusing on striking the ball (passing, shooting etc), 1v1, receiving the ball, travelling with the ball (running and dribbling) plus 1 v 1 defending. At this programme, players will need to be motivated and dedicated to learning new football skills in a fun environment.

This programme acts as a great opportunity for players wanting to play more football.
