HARLEQUINS, a club for ALL

Since the amalgamation of two stalwarts of South Canterbury Rugby, Zingari and Star in 1998, Harlequins have enjoyed numerous successes within the South Canterbury Rugby and Netball sporting arena.

Our Senior and Senior B teams have enjoyed success on the fields of South Canterbury and are always competitive until the final whistle. Womens rugby has seen a revitalization over recent years that we are now pleased to see them back in the club with a new team and competition for the 2024 season.

During the season our club rooms on Church Street welcomes all club memebers, their families and opposition to join us to refresh the body and mind with many a discussion on the presnt days play or past expierences on and off the field.

We are supported by a very successful JAB section, so if you’re looking for a club for your kids, girls and boys, whatever age, then this is the club for you. Parent participation on and off the field is always appreciated with many players going on to represent the senior club now and well into the future.

Our Senior Netball Division joined the Harlequins Club in 2007, boosting the club’s commitment to sports throughout the South Canterbury district, we have seen them grow from strength to strength and are always looking for that perfect game, they too have tasted success on the Netball courts of SC, claiming Champions in both Premier and Senior grades. So, if you are looking for a club or are new to the district, come join a vibrant entertaining club.

Our newly renovated clubrooms situated on Church St was purchased in 2008, renovations were swift to allow for full catering and bar facilities including open floor plan, to allow us to officially open prior to the 2009 club season. It is now the centre piece of the club, boosting a perfect place for any club or private function. With the purchase of the clubrooms, we also moved our training grounds from Morrison Park to Ashbury Park, this move allowed us to combine with the Timaru Cricket Club, with major renovations of their Club Rooms, involving extra changing rooms, gear shed and new shower block to accommodate all Senior and JAB rugby, Senior and schoolboy cricket, while also allowing for many other sporting codes to utilise the facilities for trainings.

So, if you’re looking for a club be it Senior, Social, JAB/IAB rugby or Netball or just to have a few light refreshments, then give us a call, there's a team for all ages and a seat available in the clubrooms to enjoy the banter and social atmosphere.
