CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES

These are available to all children through a range of programmes and activities.

The Arts

Our aim is to present a range of artistic and cultural activities for the students. It is up to the students to make the most of these opportunities and to become involved. Every two years we have an Arts focus term, the culmination of which is an Arts display.

Gymnastics Festivals

There are bay-wide events that provide students with the opportunity to learn, practice and perform gymnastic routines.

Kapa Haka / Te Reo/ Te Ao Māori

All children receive weekly class lessons in Tikanga and Te Reo Māori. Students may wish to join the Kapa Haka roopu, working with a kapa haka tutor on a weekly basis. All thematic units of learning have learning through a Māori perspective woven through them.

Choir

We have  award-winning choirs for children from years 3-6  who have enjoyed much success in the regional KidSing Competition. Here is a link to view the 2022 senior choir, who acheived BEST choir.

Music

All classes have music lessons with Mrs Lynnette Irwin, our specialist music teacher. Junior and senior singing sessions are also part of the programme. Privately run lessons are also available at the school, for a fee. Contact the office to find out more.
