The Hawke's Bay Cricket Camps were established in 1979 and organised by Ray Mettrick.  Ray ended his 22 years in charge in 2001 and since then they have been organised by Hawke's Bay Cricket Association.

They have been a very successful breeding ground for a number of first class and New Zealand cricketers with Ross Taylor, Jamie How, Jeetan Patel, Jacob Oram, Jesse Ryder, Mike Mason, Ben Stokes (England), Scott Styris, Kane Williamson, Doug Bracewell, Trent Boult, Sara McGlashan, Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr to name a few.​​​​​​​

Due to numbers in 2022-23, we have made some changes to our Grades & Tournament structure.

  1. We no longer have a separate tournament for A & B Division for the Year 6, 7 & 8 Year Groups, however there are still two tournaments which are named White or Black. 

  2. For the Year 6, 7 & 8 Tournaments, Clubs/Associations can only enter (ONE) 1 team in White and ONE (1) in Black, unless you have 3 or more teams in a Year Group, and if this is the case, then they can enter 2 teams in one tournament and 1 in the other tournament. 

  3. For Year 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 Tournaments, we will have an A & B Division.

Year 4/5:             Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 January 2024 (teams stay at Woodford House & Hereworth)
Year 6 White:     Sunday 7 to Wednesday 10 January 2024 (teams stay at Woodford House & Hereworth)
Year 10:               Sunday 7 to Wednesday 10 January 2024 (teams stay at Napier Boys’ & Girls High School)
Year 6 Black:      Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 January 2024 (teams stay at Woodford House & Hereworth)
Year 9:                 Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 January 2024 (teams stay at Napier Boys’ & Girls High School)
Year 7 White:     Sunday 14 to Wednesday 17 January 2024 (teams stay at Woodford House & Hereworth)
Year 11-13:         Sunday 14 to Wednesday 17 January 2024 (teams stay at Napier Boys’ High School)
Year 8 White:     Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 January 2024 (teams stay at Napier Boys’ & Girls High School)
Year 7 Black:      Sunday 21 to Wednesday 24 January 2024 (teams stay at Napier Boys’ High School)
Girls Year 6-8:    Sunday 21 to Wednesday 24 January 2024 (teams stay at Woodford House)
Girls Year 9/10:  Sunday 21 to Wednesday 24 January 2024 (teams stay at Woodford House)
