REFEREEING

We have a program to develop our referees to obtain a grading which enables them to referee at club and school competitions and national championships.

PROGRESSION 

At Hibiscus coast our referees will progress along the following general pathway although some of the steps may be skipped based on competence and previous experience:

Trainee --> Coast mini polo referee --> water polo club referee --> graded referee

The pathway to become a Coast mini polo refereee is :

1. Attend initial training session, sign the code of conduct and Complete the local referees course - https://www.aucklandwaterpolo.co.nz/refereeing 
2. Observe and then shadow a Coast mini polo referee for a session
3. Co-referee some Coast mini polo games with a referee.
4. Referee a few Coast mini polo games being shadowed by an experienced referee
5. Be successfully assessed to referee Coast mini polo games.

The pathway to become a water polo club refereee is :

1. Complete at least 1 term of Coast mini polo refereeing
2. Attend initial training, complete the local referee course and pass the basic test
3. Referee a few water polo games under supervision
4. Be successfully assessed to referee water polo games

The pathway to grading is determined by WPNZ but is similar to the processes described above.

REMUNERATION

This is set yearly by the club.
