Years 5 & 6 are an incredibly important time for boys and girls. The learning habits, the self-discipline, the resilience – all of these characteristics are beginning to bloom during this time, giving your child essential life skills as they grow into young boys and girls.

Small Class Sizes. Specialist Teachers.

No classrooms with 60+ students. No distracting environments where your child gets lost in the shuffle. Our Year 5 & 6 classes are capped at 22 children, ensuring a world-class teaching environment where your child will be seen AND heard.

We also don't expect one person to educate your child on every single subject in the same room all day. That is why your child will have a homeroom teacher alongside a series of specialist teachers who cover music, science, physical education and more. Your child will learn to be independent and self-organised as they move around the school.

At Hereworth, we get the basics right. Our academic and mathematics programmes are second to none, with structured literacy a feature for every year group, and streaming mathematics in place from Year 6 onward. The end result – your child gets taught the essential skills at a level that suits them, ensuring the best chance for success.

Choir performances, sports trips, competitive events and more - Years 5 & 6 are when the opportunities fully open up to our students, giving them countless opportunities to thrive while discovering their passions.

It's not all books and laptops, though. With camps, day trips and adventures planned throughout the year, your child will develop character, friendships and resilience far outside the classroom.

Going into the Intermediate/High School years is a lot easier with some friends at your side. At Hereworth, we see those friendships begin to blossom in Years 5 & 6, making the upcoming journey a lot less intimidating. Plus we have the advantage of being a full primary school, so you’re not shuffling your child off to an Intermediate where they have to start all over again

At Hereworth, Years 7 & 8 are when students can begin to see the fruits of their hard work and the opportunities to become a school leader are available. School prefects, Head Boy, Head Girl, squad leaders, sports captains – these are just some of the prominent, valued roles available to our students in the later years, and those opportunities begin their development in Years 5 & 6
