- As a player Hikurangi Netball expects you to:
- always play by the rules
- never argue with an official. If you disagree with a decision we ask you to inform the captain, coach or manager during a break or after the competition
- control your temper. Understand that verbal abuse of officials and other players or deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted behaviour in any sport
- work equally hard for yourself and your team
- be a good sport and applaud all good plays whether they are made by your team or the opposition
- treat all players of netball as you like to be treated. You should not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor
- cooperate with your coach, team mates and opponents
- display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat
- participate for your own enjoyment and benefit
- respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion
- thank the opposition and officials at the end of the game
- promote adherence to the club’s code of conduct and ensure any incidents, concerns and issues are dealt with professionally, non-biased and discussed with the relevant people only
- report any concerns, incidents or issues immediately to your Coach or Manager. If any concern you have involves the coach or the manager then please contact a committee member immediately
- ensure all queries and questions on the club’s code of conduct or anything relating to the club are directed to the committee in the first instance
As a player, Hikurangi Netball expects you to NOT:
- arrive at the venue or play sport while intoxicated
- use bad language nor harass players, officials, spectators or other coaches
