Often described as having a “country feel”, Hobsonville Bowling Club is a hidden gem tucked away behind modern developments and motorways. We’re proud to keep the tradition of bowls alive while welcoming both seasoned players and newcomers.

OUR HISTORY

The early plans to develop a bowling green began in the 1950s, with the Club’s Opening Day held on Saturday, 17 November 1957.

In September 1956, a small group of enthusiastic women had already formed the Hobsonville Ladies Bowling Club.

On 25 November 1993, the amalgamation of both the Men’s and Women’s Clubs was approved, and by 22 July 1995 the Hobsonville Combined Club Inc. held its inaugural general meeting.

The 1999–2000 season brought another turning point, when members voted to dissolve the Combined Club and establish the new identity: The Hobsonville Bowling Club.

In 2007, the installation of artificial surfaces on both the A and B Greens ensured members and visitors could enjoy bowls all year round.

For many years the achievements of bowlers were proudly displayed on Honours Boards, photographs, and banners—celebrating the champions who have represented Hobsonville over the decades. These are now displayed on our display screens which are updated regularly
