On the 16/17 of July Horowhenua played in the Paterson trophy zone 4 against Upper Hutt,Hutt Valley,North Wellington,Bush Ruahine and Wairarapa. The teams were Neil Anderson,Fiona Anderson,Brent Thoms and Sam Anderson, and the other team was Bruce Pedley,Peter Drabble,Stan Sparrow and Paul Kirkby,Ann Drabble was the reserve. Horowhenua had finished last for the past two years and were determined to not to finish last but things didn't quite go to plan having only 8 points after the first round,but this Horowhenua team didn't give up that easily they continued to fight but narrowly lost some crucial games didn't help. After 3 rounds Horowhenua were on 22 points.

Into the second day the Horowhenua tea improved with Neil Anderson’s team winning both games of fours and Bruce Pedley’s team picking up a hard fought win over North Wellington but that wasn't enough with Horowhenua finishing last. The final results were
