Our History

The HSOB‑Burnside Women’s CPL team represents the highest level of women’s hockey within the HSOB‑Burnside club, built on a strong tradition of development, teamwork, and competitive excellence.

Formed to provide a clear pathway for talented female players, the semi‑Premier (CPL) side has grown into a respected presence in Canterbury hockey. The team draws from the club’s deep junior and senior ranks, reflecting HSOB‑Burnside’s long‑standing commitment to nurturing players both on and off the turf.

Over the years, the Women’s CPL squad has been known for its hardworking culture, strong club values, and willingness to give emerging players opportunities to test themselves at a higher level. Many athletes have progressed through the team to Premier hockey, regional and international honours, while others have become leaders and mentors within the wider club.

Today, the HSOB‑Burnside Women’s CPL team continues to balance performance with development, proudly representing the club each season and contributing to a thriving women’s hockey community.
