Here is some whakapapa in terms of how we came to the name for the club, Kaiawa (NZ falcon). There are many Māori names for the NZ falcon however this is the translation we thought was fitting.

We chose Kaiawa because of the attributes of this manu and the tikanga, ethos that we see within the club and how it aligns to our vision and purpose:

Ko te aronga kia taunaki i ia kaitākaro ki te whakatinana i tōna ako pitomata

“Our purpose is to assist all players to reach their full potential"

Whanaungatanga - building strong connections amongst players in the club and the wider sporting community

Manaakitanga - nurturing of the team and it’s members (encouragement & constructive feedback)

Pumanawa - to grow and reach the true potential of its members

Whakamana - to empower and instill confidence within players individually and collectively

Ngaio - to remain professional at all times with interactions and aspects of the sport and the wider community

Poutūmārō - to be the pinnacle! To be the best we can possibly be as a whanau and club.
