Code of Conduct​​​​​​​


As a student of Kaipara College I will…

  • Always play by the rules

  • Never argue with an official.  If I disagree with a decision I will inform the captain, coach or manager during a break or after the competition.

  • Control my temper.  I understand that verbal abuse of officials and other players or deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted behavior in any sport.

  • Work equally hard for myself and my team.

  • Be a good sport and applaud all good plays, whether they are made by my team or the opposition.

  • Treat all players in my sport as I like to be treated.  I will not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.

  • Cooperate with my coach, team mates and opponents.

  • Display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat.

  • Participate for my own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches.

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

  • Thank the opposition and officials at the end of the game.

  • Display and represent our school PRIDE values at all times.

As a Kaipara College coach/manager I will….

  • Have sound knowledge of the sport.

  • Teach players to abide by the rules of sport.

  • Develop, and instill in the players positive attitudes of fair play and sportsmanship.

  • Set high standards and promote the need for punctuality, discipline and commitment.

  • Develop and encourage player motivation, fitness and skill level.

  • Train the team at least once a week and ensure full attendance at all practices.

  • Develop a good working relationship with the manager/coach and teacher in charge.

  • Be responsible for looking after team equipment and returning this equipment at the end of the season.

  • Ensure that students are aware of playing times and venues each week and help organise transport, where necessary.

  • Ensure students are wearing their sports uniform correctly.

  • Ensure the team behaviour, on and off the court / field is exemplary.

  • Ensure the safety of students when training / playing and to follow up any injuries of team members.

  • Be aware of any medical / health concerns of the team.

  • Report any incidents / accidents / injuries on the appropriate form.  Ensure a copy is given to the teacher in charge.

As a Kaipara College parent/caregiver I will….

  • Insist that my child plays within the rules and principles of fair play and do not accept the use of violence and unsportsmanlike behaviour in any way.

  • Respect all officials, players, coaches, supporters and opponents.

  • Not enter the field of play, unless requested by an official to do so.

  • Take the time to thank the coaches and managers after all games.

  • Display a positive attitude at all games and be a positive role model for others.
