The Kamo Sports Charitable Trust worked hard for 3-4 years to replace the pavilion to be shared between tennis and cricket. The final funding application to NZ Lotteries Board had to be delayed in October 2017 due to not having the Resource Consent completed. It was finally submitted in early 2018, and the Trust had the fabulous news a few months later that the full amount had been granted. This gave the final green light to enable the pavilion project to move forward.

The project cost $522,592 + GST and was be made possible by grants from NZ Lotteries Board, Foundation North, Whangarei District Council, along with generous financial support from Bella Homes, Laser Electrical, Craig Rule Plumbing, Apex Roofing, Carpet Court and Whangarei Aluminium  - the Trust is grateful for the support of all of these organisations.

Other successful projects to date have been

  • Replacement surfaces for three tennis courts
  • Replacement of portion of external fencing and addition of two new wheel chair friendly gates
  • Replacement of cricket practice net surfaces and run up
  • New Pavilion
  • Tennis equipment shed
  • Ball machine
  • 2023 proposal to resurface fourth tennis court
