Welcome to ​​​​​​​Kāwhia Boating & Angling Club Inc (KBAC)

Nestled on the rugged west coast of Aotearoa, KBAC is proud to be the NZSFC Club of the Year 2023. We may be a small club, but we’ve got big heart, strong community spirit, and a deep love for the sea. Our club is built on connection - between whānau, friends, and fellow fishing enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned angler, a weekend boatie, or just here to enjoy the coastline, you’re in good company.

We host a range of competitions and social events throughout the year, support sustainable fishing practices, and welcome new members with open arms. From club days on the water to shared yarns back at the ramp, KBAC is all about making memories and looking after each other. We’re proud of our local waters and the unique west coast conditions that make every trip an adventure—where resilience, respect for the ocean, and good humour go hand in hand.

The club is open Friday and Saturday from 5pm ‘til late (hours may vary over long weekends and during summer). Come and enjoy a drink, a yarn, and a meal with a view many only dream about.

Our Jubille Bonze Lure

ONLY 17 LEFT – 50th Jubilee Lure!

Our Limited Edition KBAC 50th Jubilee Bonze Lures were a hit at our Jubilee celebrations - and we now have ONLY 17 LEFT!

Only 50 lures were made, one representing each of the 50 years of the Kāwhia Boating & Angling Club. Each lure features our Club logo and special 50th Jubilee wording and is priced at $130.

AND THERE'S $1,000 UP FOR GRABS!

Purchase one of our 50th Jubilee Lures, fish with it and catch a marlin out of Kāwhia using that lure, provide proof to our weighmasters and you'll earn an entry into our special Jubilee draw.

The draw will take place at the 2027 KBAC Prizegiving, with one lucky qualifying entry winning $1,000!

Please note: Purchasing a lure alone does not qualify you for the draw. You must catch a marlin using your KBAC 50th Jubilee Bonze Lure and have the catch verified by the Club to be eligible.

These lures can ONLY be purchased over the bar at the KBAC Clubrooms.

They are NOT available online. They cannot be ordered through our website, Facebook page or by contacting committee members.

If you want one of the final 17, you'll need to come into the Club and purchase it directly over the bar.  Once these 50 are gone, they're gone!
