INTEGRITY TRANSITION PROGRAMME
We know that sport contributes to health and well-being/hauora and brings communities together. But things aren’t perfect. Bullying, misconduct, discrimination, match-fixing, doping and other forms of cheating does happen.
In July 2022, the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Grant Robertson, announced that a new entity would be created to strengthen and protect the integrity of the sport and recreation system in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Integrity Transition Programme (ITP) has been tasked with establishing the Integrity Sport and Recreation Commission with the goal of enhancing integrity within sport by protecting and promoting the safety and wellbeing of participants and the fairness of competition.
As part of this work, the ITP will draft a set of common integrity standards - a Code of Integrity which will form the cornerstone of the sector’s integrity system. The Code is intended to provide clear standards for organisations and individuals in the sport and recreation sector.
To ensure the Code reflects the sector, the ITP has developed a survey to capture the views of the community. We encourage you to complete the survey: Survey 2023
