At The Manawatu Car Club, our volunteers are the driving force behind every successful event. From club days and race meetings to major championships, volunteers play a vital role in ensuring events run safely, smoothly, and professionally.
As we look ahead to our upcoming events and the 2026/2027 season, we're always looking for enthusiastic people to join our volunteer team. Whether you're a lifelong motorsport fan, a club member wanting to give back, or someone looking to learn something new, there's a place for you.
No experience? No problem. We'll provide training, guidance, and support to help you get started.
Volunteering with Manawatu Car Club is a great way to:
✅ Learn more about motorsport from behind the scenes
✅ Meet like-minded people and make lasting friendships
✅ Get closer to the action than most spectators
✅ Learn new skills and gain valuable experience
✅ Support the future of motorsport in the Manawatu region
✅ Have fun while contributing to a great club environment
Whether you can help at one event or throughout the season, every volunteer makes a difference.
Whether you can help at one event a year or throughout the racing season, we'd love to have you involved.
There is no minimum commitment required. Some volunteers assist at a few events each year, while others become regular members of our officiating and support teams. We'll work with your availability and help find a role that suits your schedule.
Not sure when you're available? Check out our Events Calendar on the website to see upcoming race meetings, club days, and special events throughout the year. You can choose the events that fit your schedule and volunteer as often as you like.
Many of our volunteers begin with little or no motorsport experience.
Our experienced officials and department chiefs will provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to help you develop the skills needed for your chosen role.
Where required, volunteers will be provided with the resources, equipment, and safety gear necessary to carry out their duties. Specific requirements vary between roles, and your department chief will discuss any equipment, clothing, or training needed before your first event.
There are also opportunities to progress into specialist positions and gain Motorsport New Zealand officiating experience and qualifications.
We have a variety of roles available throughout the year, including:
Work trackside and assist with driver safety by displaying flags and communicating track conditions.
Organise and manage vehicles in the assembly area before sessions begin.
Assist with race starts, finishes, and monitoring on-track activity.
Be part of the team responding to vehicle incidents and recoveries.
Help with event coordination, documentation, registrations, and general administration.
Create content, capture photos, promote events, and help keep our online community engaged.
Assist officials in overseeing race operations and communications.
Support the inspection of vehicles to ensure they meet safety and technical requirements.
Lead the field when required and assist during on-track incidents.
Help record, manage, and distribute timing information and event results.
Bring events to life for competitors, spectators, and audiences.
Help organise lunches, refreshments, and volunteer hospitality during events.
That's perfectly okay.
Many of our current volunteers started with little or no motorsport experience. Our experienced team will provide training and mentoring, helping you learn the role and build confidence.
The most important qualities are enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to get involved.
