A positive team experience for our kids

Matakana Hawks Netball Club is a voluntary sports club, working to encourage locals in the area to enjoy the game we've come to love. We faciliate Junior Netball for Matakana, with teams primarily playing at Netball Rodney Centre, Centennial Park, Wellsford.

Introducing your child to a team sport early is all about establishing the principles of getting out and about, being active, being a part of a TEAM, and having FUN with friends for a healthy lifestyle.

Of course the kids also learn new skills along the way. FutureFERNS is NZ's official Junior Netball programme - and is not the full game we - as parents - would have experienced ourselves back in the day. FutureFERNS progresses players though modified formats of Netball (for example 4 vs 4 players for 5 and 6 year olds) that recognises their stage of physical and mental development. It means more passes, more play, and more shots! 

The programme encourages the development their skills and provides a progressive introduction to Netball, developing a lifelong love of the game.

As a local club, with the backing of local sponsors, we're dedicated to making sure every season is the best it can be. Watch out for some fun events along the way!
