Performance Netball Coach - ROTORUA / TAURANGA

Maylene is passionate about all things NETBALL, SPORTS, HEALTH, FITNESS, COMMUNITY and WHANAU.  With 20 years plus experience in this industry and founder, head coach and trainer of Mayz Sportz Netball along with years of volunteering her purpose is to ENCOURAGE, ENGAGE and EMPOWER all those wanting to be a part of the kaupapa. 

Maylene has 10 years plus of coaching experience from grassroots to performance levels, achieving her qualifications with Netball NZ Community Coach Award Level 1 & 2 and is finalising her NNZ Performance Coach Qualification (PCQ).  She was awarded the NNZ Cadbury Volunteer Coach of the Year 2019 and recognised for 10 years of services to Netball Rotorua Centre (NRC) Executive Committee 2022.

Attended NNZ National Development Camps (NZSS) 2018, 2021 and 2024 as an Apprentice Coach, she works closely with Netball WaiBOP Pathways and Coach Development Team and is NRC Development Coordinator, Coach Developer, Trainer and Centre Coach Coordinator. 

She has coached Fraser Tech Premier 1 Team - Hamilton 2020, Hamilton U18B Rep Team 2021,  Mount Allied Premier 2 Team 2021, Mount Sports Premier 1 Team 2022, Rotorua Open Rep Teams 2022/2023 (plus Age Group Reps) and Mayz Sportz Netball Teams ranging from Rangatahi to Premier Teams 2021-2024. 

Maylene is currently the Sports Coordinator at Selwyn Primary School in Rotorua, has been there for 6 years developing and delivering sports, leadership programmes, growing student leaders and connecting with the community.  

Maylene is a key founder of Kaitao Rotohokahoka Collective, Rotorua to deliver, plan and coordinate community events, whanau days and is instrumental in thriving communities. 

Majority of the time you will see Maylene at the Netball Rotorua Centre, developing, coordinating and facilitating programmes, workshops, modules and even coaching her own Mayz Sportz Netball Club INC over the last four years.   

She is absolutely excited with the opportunity given as  ACG Tauranga Netball Head of Code and Head Coach - ACG Tauranga Senior A and Junior A Teams, “I am excited to share my expertise,  implement development programmes for players/coaches at ACG and providing pathways for student participation and growth”.
