Rugby Grades 2026

Morrinsville Sports Junior Rugby plays a huge role in our club and local community. Every season we see hundreds of kids pulling on the red and blue jersey and heading out for mornings full of energy, laughter, learning, and a bit of healthy competition. Watching our young players running around the field together is something pretty special.

Our Mini Midgets (3–5 years) programme is all about introducing the youngest players to rugby in a fun, relaxed environment at Campbell Park. The focus is on building confidence, getting active, and simply enjoying being part of the game. Mini Midgets is free for the season, making it a great way to give rugby a go.

For 5–7 year olds, Rippa Rugby helps kids develop their skills while learning what it means to be part of a team. Players practise passing, running, and defending by ripping waist tags instead of tackling, creating a safe and enjoyable experience. Games take place at Campbell Park on Friday evenings from 5:15pm, which has become a great social time for families as well.

From 8–13 years, players move into graded tackle rugby within the Waikato division, travelling around the region for games. At this level, players continue building their rugby fundamentals while also learning teamwork, resilience, and the strong sense of camaraderie that makes rugby so special.

Their contributions help keep costs low so more families can be involved. Registration is just $30 per child, which includes a mouthguard, socks, tournament entries, and a fun end-of-season celebration at Ninja Valley.
