INTRODUCING MORRINSVILLE SQUASH
Morrinsville Squash is a strong country squash club in the heart of the Waikato. We have excellent club facilities, including three courts, which can be enjoyed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 52 weeks of the year. We are an affiliated member of Squash NZ and Squash Waikato, through which our members enjoy the benefits of tournament play, interclub exchange and a sophisticated NZ wide grading system to name but a few.
The club is administered by a strong, loyal and enthusiastic committee with a full and varied programme. We continue to look for ways of improving our facilities to provide a comfortable environment for our members.
A brief description of various aspects of our club follows and it is our desire that all members will enjoy squash at a level that caters for them.
FOR THE NEW MEMBER
To ensure you have a pleasant start to your club membership, and to help you get to know the ropes, we hope this introductory guide helps.
PLAYING OPPORTUNITIES
Casual Play – Available whenever the courts are not required for organised squash. Please use the online booking facility through iSquash. Your username and password will be given to you once the administrative side of your membership has been completed. Court bookings are in 45-minute allocations and are staggered between the three courts. Choose your desired playing time carefully. In peak times its courteous to only have one booking.
VISITORS
Members are entitled to bring visitors to the club. We ask that you respect the club rule that visitors may play up three times without charge, after which time they become a member or pay the $10.00 per game casual fee.
CHILDREN
Children are welcome at the club, but we ask that the club is treated with respect. Junior playing members (Under 15) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Organised junior coaching sessions are available through school terms two and three.
COACHING
Coaching is available upon request for a fee determined by the coach. Contact a committee member or email [email protected] for more information.
DRESS CODE
Non-marking clean soled shoes are essential for play. (Your squash shoes are not to be worn outside).
A presentable dress standard is expected for competition play.
UNWRITTEN SQUASH RULES
It is customary to shake hands at the end of a match and for the winner to buy their opponent a drink of their choice. You will generally be required to mark and referee a game following yours.
INTERCLUB
Interclub is a senior competition run throughout the Waikato squash clubs. Interclub is a great way to improve your game and meet other players of similar ability. Autumn Interclub starts in March, Winter in April and Spring in August. Men’s Interclub is weekly on a Tuesday night, and Women’s Interclub is weekly on a Wednesday night. Both start at 7.00pm. If you are hosting (opposing team comes to your club) you are expected to provide supper for your opponents, with each host player bringing a plate.
