Tena tatou nga whānau o te motu. Nau mai haere mai ki tenei te hapori rīki o Manawatū. Greetings and salutations everyone. Welcome to the Manawatū Māori Rugby League Whanu and Community.

Manawatū Māori Rugby League was established in 2021 after much consultation with local Iwi. This was spearheaded by our Chair, Sam Maniapoto, and supported by our General Manager and Manawatū Rugby League Committee.

The purpose of establishing Manawatū Maori Rugby League was to extend upon the Manawatū Rugby League purpose:

To facilitate the game of Rugby League in the greater Manawatu district, to enable all participants the opportunity to achieve success at all levels.

and provide opportunity to attend Aotearoa New Zealand Māori Rugby League's (ANZMRL) multiple age group tournaments for players of Māori descent.

This also ties in with MRL's Mission Statement:

MRL is to provide systems to the Manawatu Rugby League Community in order to develop and grow Rugby League within the greater Manawatu district.

Our drive is to keep players involved with Rugby League at all levels and provide pathways for those who aim for higher accolades.

Grow the knowledge, grow the love, grow the game.

Manawatū Māori Rugby League will be providing opportunities to attend ANZMRL Tournaments based on Coaching and Management availability.

If you would like more information on becoming a Coach or Manager please email manawaturugbyleague@outlook.com for an information pack.  MMRL requires a high level of committment and self management from those taking teams under our kaupapa.
