A small croquet club with enthusiastic players of all ages, always looking for new members. Come along and try the game!

Come and join us at the Mt Albert Croquet Club open days - try the modern version of this classic lawn game - ‘Golf Croquet’. Flat soled shoes are best. All equipment is provided. Our friendly club members will introduce you to the game, absolutely no obligation.

The Mt Albert club invites prospective players to join them and learn to play. It is a club that plays socially; for fun, fitness, relaxation and enjoyment of each others company and the game. The focus is skill building in a relaxed atmosphere that caters for all ages and abilities.

Members also play competitively and the club regularly enters small teams into various competitions & tournaments hosted by other clubs in the greater Auckland region.

Open Days: are formally held fairly regularly on the first Sunday of each month for members of the public who wish to come along and play a game or two with no obligation to join. However, since Sunday afternoon play is social in format, we'd welcome interested members of the public on any Sunday afternoon to 'have a go'. Email first for confirmation if unsure (some Sundays are blocked out for competitions).

Coaching for beginners: Are you interested in giving croquet a go but not sure if it’s for you? As part of the ‘give it a go’ period, we offer two free coaching sessions that takes you through the basics of croquet and teach you core skills so that you can be confident when playing with our club members. The coaching will also help you decide whether croquet is for you and offers the opportunity to meet new people and to learn skills to play a game that is both challenging and fun. ​​​​​​​

Club Days:
Our lawns are available to play on all year round, on the days listed below:

Golf Croquet:

  • Saturday: 9:00am - 12:30pm - Competitive play within the club, using 'Advantage' rules to balance handicaps and ensure even matches. Being a small club, we play 'doubles', and for Saturday mornings first two games we do a random allocation of members into pairs to ensure everyone of all abilities gets a balanced yet challenging game.
  • Sunday: Social play, and welcoming prospective new members or casual inquires to 'have a go'  2pm-5pm
  • Wednesday: Social play: mix and match with the regulars. Share a glass of wine over cheese and crackers at the end of play.
    • Winter hours: 2pm - 5pm
    • Summer: 4pm - 7pm
