About Us:
Nelson Bays Pony Club is an amalgamation of two rural and one city area of the original Nelson Pony Club. We are based at Rough Island and hold 'working rallies on the third Sunday of every month, in addition to casual rallies on the first Sunday of the month.  Often our rally dates clash with other important equestrian events, so we try to have some flexibility in scheduling our rallies and events.

Our Members:
We have a great bunch of riders aged between 6-17 years of age. Some of them compete, and others are happy to ride at home and come to pony club for fun and instruction. We don’t focus overly on competing, but want every rider in our club, who wants to be in a team to have a go safely, regardless of their ability to win.

We also have a great bunch of parents and supporters. Some of our parents are extremely experienced and knowledgeable, others congratulate themselves on being able to distinguish a horse from a cow at 100 metres. It doesn’t matter to us, as long as you bring the willingness and enthusiasm a small club like ours needs. We want all our members to feel part of our club, and if someone is unsure of how to do something, we will find someone else in the club who is able to help. Teamwork is important to us – for both riders and supporters.

Our Philosophy:
Our aim is to be the home of the all-rounder. We aim to educate, inform and engage riders of all ages and stages in the joys of pony club, and to have fun in the process.

We Offer:
Expert coaching in all disciplines including: dressage and flatwork, showjumping, cross-country, mounted games and trekking. We try to do at least two of these activities every rally. We offer all the Pony Club certificates and our riders work their way through them in a relaxed and supportive environment.

What else we offer:
Every year we have a camp, which is great fun and often a highlight of the year. Parents come and bring their horses as well, if they want to. Most recently we enjoyed a stay at one of our members' property in Redwood Valley and other years we have camped at Delaware Bay, Marahau and Baton Valley.
