1919
Ascot Tennis Club was formed for men only, located on the corner of Ascot Avenue and Beach Road.

1922
Bowker Tennis Club was formed, made possible by Henry Layton Bowker who donated 1.25 acres of his farmland between Bowker Avenue & Palmers Road, for courts and a pavillion for the purpose of playing tennis, bowls or croquet. This new club was an immediate success partly because it offered Sunday tennis. Of the 100 members the majority were young married couples who brought their children with them.

1923
The club became and still is an incorporated society being certified on 18th September 1923 as the North Beach Tennis Club Inc. (CH/2 19278)

1928
January, a Deed of gift was made out "as recognition of the fact that the Bowker family has been associated with New Brighton and it's affairs for over 60 years." There were 4 trustees appointed to the club - HL Bowker, HW Heslop, FW Cramp & WH Peppler

1930
The pavillion was no more than a shed & after several years of hard work and enthusiasm it was in this year that a new pavillion was built and was to stand for 74 years.

1946-1952
The club flourished again after the war years and was one year runner up in the CLTA's competition at Wilding park.

1960's
Discovered the land was still owned by the Bowker Estate and ownership was generously handed over to the club by the eldest daughter of the family.

1970's
Double sided volley board erected. The addition of a fourth court. Celebrated the club's 50th Anniversary.

1980's
Membership thriving. Two juniors selected for National champs in Auckland.

1990's
Courts resealed. Club celebrated its 75th Anniversary.

2000's
New pavillion built in 2004. Four new 'State of the Art' Decoturf courts laid in March 2009.

2010's
New Decoturf courts laid again in 2013 as a result of the Canterbury earthquakes damaging all four courts.
