  • Register rider or horse falls or other accidents when a First Aid check is required but no further action needed.

Concussion - Signs & Symptons

Physical Signs - things YOU see

  • Loss of consciousness or non-responsive
  • Lying on the ground, slow to move or get up
  • Loss of balance or co-ordination
  • Disorientation or confusion
  • Visible injury to face or head
  • Seizure or convulsion
  • Vomiting

Symptons - things THEY feel

  • Blurred vision
  • Neck pain
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Headache
  • Sensitivity to light / noise
  • Generally unwell
  • Fatigue / Drowsiness
  • More emotional / irritable
  • Memory difficulties
  • Reduced ability to concentrate

If a suspected concussion has occured, it is important to see a medical doctor for assessment immediately.

Any rider who is suspected of having suffered a concussion injury must be removed immediately from play and not allowed to return until clearence is given, in writing, by a medical doctor.
