How club nights work
We ask ALL parents and caregivers (especially those with children under 7 years of age) remain and assist in supervising their children and to enjoy the activities they take part in.
Our Club Nights align closely with Athletics New Zealand development guidelines. We run two separate programmes depending on age - for more details on age groups see here
- 5-6yr olds participate in a specialised Get Set Go programme. The emphasis is on having fun whilst building and developing basic skills.
- For kids aged 7yrs and above, we use the Athletics New Zealand Run Jump Throw programme as a base. This develops athletics-specific skills in a fun way. We also ensure our kids get some practice on each specific athletic events. Kids will do three different activities each Club Night
For 7yrs+, the events/stations are:
- Sprints
- 200m/relay
- High Jump
- Long Jump
- Agility
- Shot Put
- Discus/Quoits
- Vortex
