IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU CHECK ALL YOUR GEAR BEFORE THE SEASON BEGINS.
Your gear will be checked prior to starting each rally.
CHECK:
-
Stitching and fastenings on your gear is safe,
-
Stirrups fit correctly. They should not be so big that your foot can fit right through them but a minimum of 2cm clearance should be shown when the rider’s foot is to one side to the stirrup. Check your stirrups are correct when you get new boots too.
-
Check your jodhpur boots. They must have a smooth sole and a heel for safety.
-
Helmet: your helmet is to be worn at ALL times. It is not recommended that you buy a second-hand helmet.
-
Check your pony’s hooves. See that your pony has neatly trimmed hooves and if they are shod check that the shoes that are on it are safe.
-
If in doubt about any of your gear, your instructor will be more than happy to help you.
